In spiritual warfare, the helmet represents salvation – a divine gift of deliverance from sin and its consequences, and the assurance of eternal life with God.
Technical Specifications: Salvation is the redemption of humanity by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It is the process of being saved from the dire consequences of human sinfulness, chiefly separation from God and eternal damnation. This salvation assures the believer of an eternal relationship with God, inaugurated in the present life and culminating in eternal life.
Usage:
The helmet’s placement is symbolically significant. In a physical sense, a helmet is designed to protect the head, where our consciousness resides. In the context of the spiritual armor, the helmet safeguards the mind – the seat of thoughts, consciousness, cognitive abilities, and perception.
This protection is crucial because the mind is often the primary battlefield in spiritual warfare. The forces of darkness often wage war by injecting doubts, spreading lies, encouraging sinful thoughts, and promoting a worldview contrary to God’s truth.
